This native Galician forest maintains an exceptional state of conservation and is a clear example of the Natural heritage existing in Terras de Burón. It has an area of 610.64 ha and includes altitudes between 500 and 700 meters. It is located between the councils of A Fonsagrada and Baleira.

An exceptional example of Galician native forest, which occupies a large area between the villages of Braña, Fórneas, Mendreiras, O Real and Martín. In a mid-mountain area of Montaña de Lugo, where this vigorous and attractive natural mass grows, which stands out for the high variety of plant and animal species that inhabit it.

Natura 2000 Network, Xeodestino Ancares-O Courel and Río Eo Biosphere Reserve, Oscos e Terras de Burón

The A Marronda forest belongs to the Rede Natura 2000, to the Ancares-O Courel xeodestine and to the Río Eo, Oscos and Terras de Burón Biosphere Reserve due above all to its great biodiversity and to being part of the southern western limit of the Hague in Europe… Becoming one of the most important reserves of this type of tree in the south western part of the old continent.
We are talking about more than one hundred and seventy species of trees and shrubs that coexist in A Marronda and that make the area a wonder to behold… A place, as we said, to walk and get lost in the silence and the variety of colors of nature.

While the representatives of the fauna variety include the wild boar, roe deer, goshawk, partridge, cuckoo, ferrets and genets.
