Tallobre’s Castiñeiral

Tallobre is a small hamlet in the parish of Ouviaño, in the Town Hall of Negueira de Muñiz. It has a peculiar beauty and a heritage worth knowing.

In Tallobre, in addition to the rehabilitated mill, there are places full of charm that seem magical like the Castiñeiral de Tallobre. This traditional “souto” that presents the characteristics of the area, is formed by centenary chestnut trees that seem to caress the sky and descends the slopes towards the Navia River.

This forest is a fundamental part of the landscape heritage of Negueira de Muñiz. We can visit it at any time of the year, highlighting autumn for the great color variety that the leaves of chestnut trees acquire.

These high mountains are part of the Eo-Oscos-Terras de Burón Biosphere Reserve, the Geodestines of Galicia and Red Natura 2000. They are the highest points of Negueira de Muñiz, bordering Asturias.

The valleys at the foot of these mountains are full of almost intact natural corners and also typical constructions that are preserved over time.
