Fervenza Pena dos Portelos Route

Route PR-G228, approved in 2017, it starts on the LU-751 road, a few meters from Chao do Pousadoiro, following towards the waterfall by a path parallel to the River Eo, passing through San Xurxo and continuing through a century-old fraga of chestnuts and oak trees, near the Fervenza, a wooden railing allows us to contemplate it and access the foot of it, enjoying its spectacular jump and the beauty of the environment. A perfectly signposted route and easy access.

Access

The N 640 road takes us from Lugo to Meira, then we will take the LU-751 road until we reach Ribeira de Piquín, where the route begins and where we will enjoy in addition to the walk, the impressive nature that surrounds us, recreational areas, cultural and religious heritage, and we can stay in beautiful rural tourism establishments and taste the authentic sabrosura of its gastronomy.

Description of the route

Ribeira de Piquín, is part of the Biosphere Reserve Eo-Oscos-Terras de Burón is in all its corners, pure beauty, where streams form spectacular jumps such as Fervenza Dos Portelos.

We start the route on the LU-751 road, approximately 400 meters from Chao do Pousadoiro, a recreational area in the surroundings of the River Eo, from here we continue along a dirt road along the banks of the River Eo, from where you can see the village of Barcia, we cross the road to the village of San Jorge, with its chapel of San Juan Degollado , to deviate to our left by a forest track during a stretch until we reach the derivation that leads to fervenza Dos Portelos.

A path through a forest of centuries-old oaks and chestnut trees called forge, where nature seems magical and accompanies us for the rest of the journey until we reach the spectacular waterfall, a waterfall of the Rego de Survial Do Couso, which falls down a slate ravine from more than 15 meters, thus giving an impressive beauty to the “fervenza”.

Back, our steps go along the main road between pines and eucalyptus trees until we reach the starting point LU-751.
