CHURCH OF SAN XURXO DE PIQUÍN
The silent environment surrounds the church of San Xurxo de Piquín, as does the sacred cemetery on its three sides.
The tranquility of the corner where it sits seems to stop time so that its great beauty can be contemplated from all angles.
This church with a Latin cross plan, built in 1782, with stone walls and a slate roof, is neoclassical in style and anyone who loves or does not love architecture can discover, when visiting it, the majesty of the bell tower.
Located on the left bank of the Eo River, in the place from which the parish takes its name, is the church of San Xurxo de Piquín, with its two chapels and the barrel-vaulted shape of its roof. The arch at the entrance invites us to enter the interior, which preserves a neoclassical altarpiece, where the image of Saint Xurxo on horseback seems to grant value and devotion.
The centuries-old shadow of the trees, listen to the sound of the bell announcing some event and, in any season of the year, is waiting for your gaze to fill you with faith and the privilege of a nature full of beauty.
