Boel Chapel

Hexagonal plant.

Jail in the War of Independence 1808-1814

The hexagonal chapel of Boel built of stone and slate roof, was the chapel of the so-called “House of Piquín” and dates about 1550.

This peculiar chapel is dedicated to San José, has at the top of the roof, where the waters meet, an iron cross and is said to have been temporary prison in the War of Independence. It also has a helmeted, barracked and oval shield, with figures superimposed at the base.

The chapel of Boel is in a small field next to the road and close to the rural center that bears the same name. From it you can see the typical landscape and beautiful surroundings of the Ribeira de Piquín mountains, located within the Eo-Oscos-Terras de Burón Biosphere Reserve, Red Natura 2ooo and Geodestinos de Galicia.
